AORN Guidelines for Processing Flexible Endoscopes | ANSI/AAMI ST91:2021
In 2022, both AORN and ANSI/AAMI released updated guidelines aimed at enhancing the reprocessing of reusable endoscopes and patient safety. AORN advocated that healthcare organizations consider single-use in their criteria when reviewing any purchasing decisions for endoscopes and accessories, but both organizations call for more stringent processes that may increase time and lessen workflow efficiency.
